South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation passes resolution against anti-Islam film

ISLAMABAD: The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Interior Ministers’ Conference has passed the resolution moved by Pakistan against the anti-Islam film. Interior Minister Rehman Malik had presented a resolution against the blasphemous video at the SAARC Interior Ministers’ Conference in Male, Maldives, said a message received from Maldives on Wednesday. Malik had urged all Muslim countries to frame laws for stopping blasphemy, as it harmed the spirit of interfaith harmony. He had condemned the inflammatory movie on behalf of the whole Muslim world, demanding action against those committing blasphemy.

He said the government had honoured its commitment of raising the issue on all available forums. SAARC interior ministers appreciated the resolution, which said that events like the sacrilegious movie had caused damage to efforts for interfaith harmony. They said terrorists were trying to mislead the people in the name of religion.
