Sindh Police ordered to lodge FIR in human rights cases without delay

Karachi, August 08 (PPI): Inspector General of Police, Sindh Zia-ul-Hassan Khan has directed the police to lodge First Information Reports (FIR) immediately and take action without delay in the cases of violation of human rights especially violence against women, children and so-called honor killing.

“In case of any slackness and indifference in this regard, the concerned officials would have to face departmental action,” he sounded note of warning according to an official handout on Wednesday.

IGP further directed to setup Human Rights Cell at the Regional Police Offices in Hyderabad and Sukkur for effective monitoring and redressing of grievances in such cases.

Presiding over a meeting of high ranking police officials at Central Police Office Karachi, IGP instructed the Superintendents of Police to work with much care in court matters, ensure early completion of investigations and submit reports of subordinate officers after going through it carefully.

He also directed for effective security measures across the province and further activating the intelligence network at police station level.

For combating terrorism and subversive activities, he directed for imparting training to the bomb disposal squad and announced that the personnel working with Bomb Disposal squad will be given 60 percent High Risk Allowance.

He called for effective coordination and communication system for the personnel of Special Branch to convey intelligence to the District Police Officers.

IGP said the police officers should themselves monitor the patrolling and checking for controlling the crime incidents.

He also issued directives for strengthening security measures for the foreigners in the province especially the engineers and other professionals working at different projects.

IGP Zia-ul-Hassan further directed that the arrangements should be made to pay salaries to the police personnel through the banks where such system is not introduced.

CCPO Azhar ali Farooqui, RPO Hyderabad Sallahuddin Babar Khattak, RPO Sukkur Bachal Sangri, Additional IG Special Branch Fayyaz Ali Khan, Additional IG Investigation Zafar Ahmed Farooqui, DIGs of all the regions and other officers attended the meeting.
