Sindh Environmental Protection Agency’s team visits 16 units in 15 days

“Sindh Environmental Protection Agency’s (Sepa) technical team has monitored /visited 16 various units including industries, hospitals/building projects, municipal services organisation and other miscellaneous units in Karachi during the last 15 days”. This was said by Minister for Environment and Alternative Energy Sheikh Muhammad Afzal here on Wednesday.

He said that no one would be allowed to mar the environmental laws. In this regard Sindh environmental watch dog had served notices to 17 different units including industries/ solid waste management services, commercial projects and other concerned stakeholders which were alleged for holding activities which could have negative implications on environment, he added.

“During the said period, Sepa collected and analysed number of samples as well and in this regard environmental protection order can be issued in due course of time, if the alleged units found guilty to exceed the permissible limits set by National Environmental Quality Standards”, he said.

Environmental Protection Agency, Sindh is trying its utmost to protect and conserve the natural environmental of Sindh and for that purpose it also takes all stakeholders on board time to time. The Minister further cleared ‘that one who found guilty would be treated according to the Law.’
