SHC seeks comments about whereabouts of TV channel’s managing director
KARACHI, May 24 2006: Sindh High Court on May 23 directed secretaries of interior and defence ministries to file their comments regarding whereabouts of satellite TV channel’s managing director, who is allegedly have been arrested by law enforcement agencies since April 4, 2006. Munir Ahmed Mengal, head of Dubai-based satellite TV Channel Baloch Voice, was taken by law enforcement agencies soon as he reached Karachi airport from Dubai on April 04, 2006, alleged his wife Abeera Munir in a petition.
Petitioner said her spouse reached Karachi airport on April 4 and he informed her on telephone that he was detained by FIA at airport. She said when concerned FIA authorities were contacted they informed that Munir was cleared by FIA but some personnel of law enforcement agencies has taken him. The court adjourning the matter for June 2, 2006 directed secretaries of interior and defence ministries to file comments regarding whereabouts of petitioner’s spouse after verification from all agencies working under their control.
