SHC disposes of petition of widow

Karachi: The Sindh High Court (SHC) directed the widow of martyred policeman to approach the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) for appointment of her son in the police department under Shaheed quota.

Petitioner Ms Parveen Ishaque submitted that her spouse Inspector Ishaque Ahmed was killed by unidentified persons in 2006 in Sachal area Karachi while performing his duties and police authorities assured that her son would be inducted in the police department.

The petitioner said that the notification was issued and 10 sons of martyred police officers were appointed as grade 17 police officers but her son was denied appointment.

She prayed to the court to direct the concerned authorities to consider the name of her son for appointment under the Shaheed quota.

Assistant Advocate General (AAG), Adnan Karim, submitted that the appointment matter is dealt by the SPSC and she should first approach the appropriate forum.

After the statement of the AAG, the petitioner desired to withdraw the petition.

The disposing of the petition observed that the petitioner may again file the fresh petition if grievance is not redressed.
