Senior journalist shot dead
MIRPURKHAS – A senior journalist and correspondent of daily Mirpurkhas, Zubair Ahmad Mujahid, was shot dead by unknown assailants, when he was on his way to house at Satellite Town along with his colleague photographer Wahid Pahalwani on the bike near Marhaba Lawn at scheme no 11, Satellite town here on late Friday from the bike, rushed to the civil night.
Reports said that unknown assailants made target him and shot him with TT pistol with cylincer as result he fell down hospital but he had been died in the way to hospital.
He left behind a widow and four sons. As the report of his murder spread hundreds of people including journalists elected representatives including Zila Naib Nazim Dr Zafar Ahmed Kamali, Zonal incharge MQM Mirpurkhas Saleem Razzak, DPO Mirpurkhas Ahmed Ali Junejo, civil surgeon Dr Roshan Ali Bbatti, SHO town Lala Javed etc reached at the hospital.
On this occasion, journalists demanded the administration to immediately arrest the killers of the above journalist.
After fulfilling the legal formality his body was shifted to his native Jhuddo town in early morning on Saturday.
It may be recalled that he had been shifted here from Jhuddo town about six years back.
DPO Ali Ahmed Junejo, talking to newsmen said that as this incident occurred police had cordoned off entire area and investigation has been started to nab the culprits
.
He said that deceased’s heirs should give names of suspected persons so that interrogation may be made on the correct line.
On Saturday, over a thousand of people including Zilla Naib Nazim Mirpurkhas Dr Gafar Ahmed KamaIi, Taluka nazim Mirpurkhas Ghulam Dastageer Khan, ex-minister for excise and taxation Shabbir Ahmed Kaim Khani, President Mirpurkhas chamber of commerce and industry MCCI Abdul Khalique Khan, divisional information officer PPP Ali Akbar Panhwer, district coordinator of PML (N) Mirpurkhas Comrade Abdul Majeed Rajput, president district bar association Salahuddin Panhwer advocate, Ali Hassan Chandio advocate, Dost Mohammad Kolachi advocate, Journalists belong to Mirpurkhas Umerkot, Kunri, Jhuddo, Kot Ghulam Mohammad Naokot, Mirwah Gorchani, Digri, Tando Jan Mohammad etc, director information officer Syed Ali Anwer Shah etc have attended the funeral ceremony.
His namaz-e-janaza was performed in Eid Gah ground at Jhuddo town and was laid to rest in Sakhi Pur Taj Mohammad graveyard of Jhuddo town.
In mourn all the main Bazars markets and shopping centres remained closed at Jhuddo town ex former federal minister Syed Ali Nawaz Shah, chairman farmers’ organization council FOC Javed Junejo and others condoled with sons of deceased’s journalist to reach at Jhuddo town.
DIG Mirpurkhas Mazhar Shaikh has also visited the place where senior journalist was made target and also made four police teams for investigation of incident.
However FIR of this incident could not be lodged till filing of this news. Besides, Zonal incharge of MQM Mirpurkhas Saleem Razzak and members zonal committee have expressed their deep grief and sorrow over the murder of senior journalist.
LAWYERS CONTINUE
BOYCOTT
Lawyers boycott of court proceedings were continue against imposition of emergency here on Saturday.
Wearing the black arm banned they held also protest meeting and also kept the flowers at Judges Corner setup outside the bar room paying the tributes to those justice and judges who did not take oath under PCO.
Lawyers have also boycotted the court proceedings in UmerKot district.
