Senator Awan to make movie to counter Dutch film

ISLAMABAD (April 21 2008): Pakistan Peoples Party Secretary Finance, Senator Babar Awan has said that he is going to make a movie depicting the true face of Islam in response to the release of the blasphemous film by a Dutch parliamentarian.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Senator Babar Awan said that being a Pakistani and Muslim parliamentarian it is his responsibility to highlight the true image of Islam enshrined in the Holy Book, ‘Qura’an’ which he said has been often misinterpreted by the West under a conspiracy.

“The movie of the Dutch parliamentarian is misleading and misrepresentative and it needs an immediate response”, he said adding that for which he has intended to release a film rejecting the Dutch parliamentarian’s derogatory act.

The name of the movie would be disclosed later and it would be completed with 100 days, he added. The movie, he said would be released in three languages ,eg English, Urdu and Arabic and to be aired on the day of Eid-ul-Fitre to be observed in the holy city “Makkah.

The Senator also urged the rulers of the Islamic world to end the apologetic attitude towards such sensitive issues and give strong response to such anti-Islamic acts often commits by the West.

Babar said that he and his team got the movie of the Dutch parliamentarian for research and found that it presents completely anti-Islamic norms and the script has nothing do with the true face of Islam.

He claimed that he and his team would release such a film, which would be appreciated not only by the Muslim but all the religions, and it would be as per international standard.

However, he did not reveal the script of the proposed film, opining that it would present the true sentiments of the Muslim Ummah. The senator said that the film ‘Fitna’ of the Dutch parliamentarian, which is rejected by the entire world and he thanked United Nations and other western countries for rejecting and condemning the derogatory movie.

This rejection and condemnation, he said not enough and Muslim has to response all such acts in the same coins. “If they publish anti-Islam articles we should also response. If they release movie we should also respond in similar way”, he added.

He also said that his film would also respond to those who have misunderstanding that Islam is a religion of violence and it has no value of humanity. Senator Awan also appealed to all the Muslim to help him in any way to get released the film which he said not only depicts the true image of Islam but also helpful to stop such blasphemous practices against the Islam. Islam, he said, is a religion, which teaches peace, tolerance and brotherhood, which needs to be highlighted.
