SC’s Human Rights Cell DG resigns

ISLAMABAD: The director general of the Supreme Court’s Human Rights Cell has resigned from his post. Sources told Daily Times that DG Saifur Rehman, a BS-22 officer, submitted his resignation over personal reasons. Saifur Rehman was a PCO judge in the high court, and removed in view of the July 31, 2009, decision. However, Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry appointed him as the HR Cell DG in view of good reputation. His contract was ending in September this year. Sources said that there were chances that the CJP might not accept his resignation.

Meanwhile, sources said that the SC administration has sent the copy of a short order regarding the conviction of Prime Minister to the National Assembly speaker and the Election Commission of Pakistan.
