ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday expressed concern over the federal and provincial governments’ efforts in the environmental pollution case, asking whether the government is “sleeping” as judicial orders are not being acted upon, Express News reported.

The top court’s three-member bench headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial heard the case.

The Supreme Court expressed concern over the federal and provincial governments and summoned the environment secretary.

Justice Bandial said environmental pollution is an important issue, but the federal and provincial governments are not cooperating with the environmental commission.

“The poisoning from factories is spreading, there is no arrangement for toxic water reservoirs, judicial orders are not being complied with; is the government sleeping?,” Justice Ata stated.

The court summoned secretary climate change for the next hearing and adjourned the hearing.
