SC orders production of recovered girl
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) ordered the Rawalpindi Police on Friday to produce in the court the girl recovered from alleged abductors on January 15.
The two-member bench, comprising Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar and Justice Chaudhry Ejaz Yousuf, had taken up the case of the girl on the basis of a newspaper report on January 2. It said that an employee of Pakistan Ordinance Factory (POF) Wah Cantt accused an employee of the Prime MinisterÃs Secretariat of having kidnapped his 18-year old daughter.
The investigation officer, Nazir Gondal, was directed to produce the girl on the next date of hearing.Additional Advocate General Punjab Afshan Ghazanfar earleir read out details of a report submitted by the Rawalpindi police.
According to the report, Reema Farooq was allegedly abducted by Imran Husain with the help of his mother Habiba Jan on December 20 when she was going to college in Wah Cantt. The motive behind the abduction was to perform Nikah of the girl, who disliked accused Imran Husain. The investigation led to a raid in Sector G-9/2 on January 5, during which the girl was recovered. The bench was apprised that the accused was granted pre-arrest bail by the trial court at Taxila and the next hearing would take place on January 17. All the relevant record about solemnising of the Nikah was also submitted, police officials present in the court informed the bench on an inquiry.
