Sadaf Kanwal unhappy with Eid releases; Sonya Hussyn responds
This Eid ul Fitr saw the release of four Pakistani films; Mahira Khan and Sheheryar Munawwar-starrer 7 Din Mohabbat In (7DMI), Jawed Sheikh’s Wajood along with Azaadi and Na Band Na Barati.
However, model turned actor Sadaf Kanwal, who made her acting debut with Balu Mahi (2017) is quite unhappy with the releases. “Are only the same 2 directors going to give us good, entertaining films every year? What is everybody else even doing? Seriously, worst 3 days for the films,” Sadaf wrote on her official Facebook handle.
While the model-actor shared her disappointment on social media, actor Sonya Hussyn, who stars in Azaadi opposite Moammar Rana, came out to support her film and responded, “Every other film cannot be a comedy film, it’s just that we need to understand there are different genres as well when it comes to filmmaking. All the films are not meant to entertain; probably it is for different kind of audience.”
Sonya added, “Also check the box office details, our Pakistani films did really well this Eid, 7DMI, Azaadi’s all shows are sold out! Which is eventually a big success, I guess!”
The ‘Kaif O Suroor’ girl was quick enough to reply and pointed out that the ban on Bollywood films during Eid may have somehow contributed to the shows being sold out.
“I understand where you’re coming from and I agree, every film cannot be a comedy but at the same time if we’re going to go another route, which I’m totally for, we need to learn to execute that idea and sadly, we didn’t,” said Sadaf. “As for those specific films being sold out, that’s amazing! But if the Indian films weren’t banned this weekend, I really don’t think those films would have been sold out.”
It seems that it is not just Sadaf who’s not impressed with the recent releases. Actor Imran Abbas and director Dawar Mehmood are also quite disappointed with what they saw in cinemas this Eid.
