Respect for women’s rights urged
LARKANA, April 10 2006: A seminar titled “Women are Human Rights” was held here on Sunday. District Nazim Muhammad Bukhsh Areejo presided over the seminar, which was organised by knowledge Centre Larkana. The secretary-general Amnesty International Pakistan Chapter, Iqbal Detho, was the Badurddin Abbasi was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, the district Nazim said Allah Almighty has given liberty and all rights to the women, adding that the Holy Qur’aan is the complete book, which tells us everything about the universe and life.
The law for protection of women’s rights is present in the Holy Qur’aan, he said, adding,”we should consult the Holy Book to safeguard the rights of women instead of laws prepared by the UN, the US or any other country”. Secretary-General Amnesty International Iqbal Detho said every year a large number of women were killed in separate incidents of violence throughout the world.
