Renowned poet Zia Jalandhri passes away
Islamabad—Renowned poet and writer Zia Jalandhri died after protracted illness here on Tuesday morning.
Zia Jalandhri started his writing career from All India Radio. After doing CSS he joined the radio in 1948. He also served as Managing Director (MD) of state Television during General Ziaul Haq era. Zia Jalandhri authored many books. His books included both poetry and prose. Funeral prayers of the legendary poet was offered in the federal capital at 4pm on Tuesday and laid to rest in H-8 graveyard.
Hundreds of people including family members, relatives, poets, professors of various universities and other people attended the funerals. The literary organizations have expressed deep grief over the death of the great poet. They paid rich tributes to services of the deceased for the Urdu literature and prayed Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace.
