Radio Hyderabad’s four studios still non-functional

HYDERABAD – Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation Hyderabad commonly known as Radio Pakistan Hyderabad is facing numerous problems due to poor condition of its studios in 1998 for want of equipments.

The non-functional studios are leaving bad impact for recording of programs, which is usually delayed, as the only one stu­dio is utilized for all the record­ings. The PBO Islamabad should have provided technical equipments but it did not do the job even after lapse of several years. Another problem currently surfacing the radio transmission is the failure of analog transmit­ter, which is creating problems in relaying of programmes due to week signals. Sources informed that the analog transmitter should have been replaced with digital transmitter as done in other centers of the country.

A member of standing commit­tee of information and broadcasting of national assembly Ms Gul e Farkhanda during her recent visit to the radio Hyderabad promised to raise the issues in the committee. Director Engineering PBC Islamabad Zulfiqar Khan on Sunday held a detailed meeting with the station director of PBC Hyderabad Fakhruddin Baloch wherein Baloch pointed to the problems.

Talking to The Nation, the director engineering informed that during his visit h-e made in­spection and review of the avail­able technical facilities at radio Hyderabad. He said that equipments for the four studios p Id be provided to the PBC Hyderabad, adding that the would take up the issue with the senior officials at Islamabad. He said that transmitter was in proper condition however a committee had been formed to check the signals availability that would submit its report soon. Zulfiqar Khan said that the proposal for conversion of analog transmitter into digital was under consideration of-PBC, as­suring that funds would be provided for provision of equipments to four studios.

Station director said that the director engineering had prom­ised for early provision of hoped that music equipments and library would be shifted to the new studios once the equipments were installed.
