Quetta Journalists protest
QUETTA: Journalists held a protest demo against the imposition of emergency, and amended ordinance against the media and closure of private news channels in front of Quetta Press Club here Sunday.
Journalists wore black bands around their arms and hoisted black flags on the press club. They raised slogans in support of freedom of media and against the government.
Addressing the protesters, journalist leaders said that eight days have passed since the proclamation of emergency and blackout of news channels. “This has unveiled government’s claim of freedom of the press,” One said. They demanded immediate reversal of PEMRA Ordinance and lifting of restrictions on news channels.
