Qamarullah elected Karachi Union of Journalists president

KARACHI- The Panel’ routed the Democratic Panel in the annual elections of Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ), all its candidates have been elected with a huge margin.

According to the results announced by Election Committee Chairman Sajid Ali Sajid, Qamarullah Chaudhry of Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) was elected KUJ President with 216 votes against Salahuddin Haider of Democratic Panel who got 94 votes and independent Ayub Jan Sarhandi (54 votes).

Saeed Sarbazi of Business Recorder (247 votes) and Jawed Rafiq of Leader (203 votes) have been elected as Senior Vice President and Vice President, respectively against Rafiq Shaikh (104) and Tanveer Baig (80) of Democratic Panel and independent Qamar Rizvi (30).

Siraj Ahmed of Jang was elected Treasurer with 236 votes, while Democratic Panel’s Humaira Bano Moosa got 117 votes.

The new General Secretary is Rana M. Khalid of Jang who bagged 194 votes against Democratic Panel’s Imtiaz Khan Faran who managed to get 153 votes.

Abdul Quddoos of Amn (236 votes) and Ajiz Jamali of Kawish (206 votes) were elected as Senior Joint Secretary and Joint Secretary, respectively against Gunivere David (146) and Saifullah Salman (70) of Democratic Panel.

The Panel’s Arshad Hussain (Freelance – 234 votes), Nizam Siddiqui (Intikhab – 223), Shabbar Azmi (Amn – 222), Saeed Iqbal (Hilal-e-Pakistan – 220), Syed Raza Hassan (Dawn – 218), Syed Muhammad Askari (Jang – 203), and Qamar Zaman (Kainat – 188) have been elected as the members of the Executive Council.

PFUJ DELEGATES:

Out of 61 candidates 39 were also elected as delegates for the Biennial Delegates Meeting of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ). Following are the elected delegates:
