PTCL steps to block vulgar websites hailed

KARACHI- The Chairman, Communication Sub-Committee of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Iqbal Ahmed Shaikh, has appreciated the step taken by the General Manager (IT), Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTC), Akhtar Jameel, for developing an inbuilt mechanism to block the mischievous websites, on a proposal of the KCCI given to the Federal Minister for Information Technology, Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, during his recent visit to the KCCI.

Iqbal Sheikh said in a statement that this kind of ill-behaved websites were misleading the young generation and also playing havoc with the moral and social values of the society.

To protect the younger generation from the negative impact of this menace, we have to take steps to stop the access to any vulgar sites even if we are loosing some important and knowledgeable websites also,” he said.

“For protecting the future and moral character of our children and the young generation, we have to keep a continuous watch on them while being on computers, not only by way of blocking the access to the mischievous and vulgar web sites, but also by providing them the easy access to healthy and educational web sites so that they may enter into new millennium to meet the demands according to the world standard,” he advised.
