PTCL launches three new packages

ISLAMABAD: The PTCL management said Monday that existing problems in the network were mainly due to ongoing development work in different parts of the country.

The PTCL management announced launch of three new value added services at a press conference held on Monday. Media raised questions over the poor performance, deteriorated image of the company, network related difficulties and the fact that there were almost 3,000 silent phone lines within Rawalpindi city only.

Conceding that problems in PTCL network were due to ongoing development work in the country the PTCL management accepted that miseries of landline phone consumers have increased due to dug up roads that have left underground cables disconnected and damaged from a numerous places.

The management of privatised communication giant has launched three new projects and under one initiative it has converted the subscribers of Pakistan Package into Pakistan Plus with the same charge of Rs199 per month.

Dr Sadik Al-Jadir, SEVP (Commercial), stated that PTCL subscribers could pick the package that is just right for them. With three customized packages everyone can get exactly what they want at a price that suits them.

Answering a question, Dr Sadik said that the VSS was purely voluntary scheme and the PTCL did not force any one to apply for VSS. He said that the PTCL’s deficit touched Rs9.5 billion owing to variety of reasons and there is not single factor behind it.

The management said around 10 million subscribers approach PTCL every month and 82 per cent are able to get response on 17 enquiry and 18 complain services within 20 seconds. The three packages include Pakistan Plus, Basic Plus and Value Plus each of which caters to a different demographic barring none.

Pakistan Plus offers 2,500 minutes of nationwide calls for a fixed package charge of Rs199. Moreover, for the convenience to customers, all current subscribers of Pakistan Package will automatically be shifted to Pakistan Plus on 1st April 2008.

PTCL is now also offering a package with 1,200 internet minutes in addition to 25 nationwide calling minutes per month, in the form of the brand-new Value Plus package which is available for Rs75 only.

This package keeps in view the needs of the Internet savvy user, in particular. To select this package, customers are requested to contact the helpline 12401240 and select Value Plus package.

The third package, Basic Plus is designed to meet the needs of the low usage segment and includes basic services along with voicemail and call waiting, which are also included in the other two packages. Customers not currently subscribed to the Pakistan Package will be automatically shifted to Basic Plus on 1st April 2008. With its dedicated 24-hour helpline 12401240, PTCL will make it easy for subscribers to get information about the new price plans and to switch between plans.
