PTCL board okays tariff relief package

ISLAMABAD, Nov 15: The PTCL board on Friday formally approved the recently announced tariff package. According to a press release, this package is based on the PTCL customer focused pricing strategy to prepare the company for effectively meeting the forthcoming competitive dynamics. The strategy is also in line with the government’s policy towards providing affordable telecom services to customers.

The board meeting was presided over by Akhtar Ahmad Bajwa.

While approving the competitive tariff with regard to line rent, installation charges and duration of local calls, the board directed the management to formulate and implement appropriate strategy to further improve its efficiency and productivity with a view to maintaining profit margin within the approved key financial performance indicators.

The board also took a decision on the strategy to enhance and add more submarine cable landing system in Pakistan. This will enhance the reliability and capacity of its international connectivity with the world to meet the fast growing demands for voice and IP bandwidth.

Likewise, the emergent requirements of the deregulated telecom environment in Pakistan will also be met appropriately.

The board approves reduction in line rent by Rs100 and installation charges from Rs1,850 to Rs1,350 in the urban areas and from Rs1,850 to Rs500 in the rural areas.
