PTA automates system to improve organizational performance

ISLAMABAD, August 04 2006: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has embarked on an ambitious programme of automation to achieve high organizational performance and efficiency in providing services to its clients, says a press release issued on Aug 03. The initiative was taken in Oct 2005 and the Ministry of Information Technology offered, help to PTA in this project. In a short time span of six months the new system was implemented in PTA on Mar 31, 2006.

PT A is the first organization under the federal government to fully automatic all its divisions to electronically process the internal files and replace the existing paper files with e-files. So far more than 2800 files have been created electronically and there were 11,000 times, the statement added. The new system called the internal communication module automates the process of file processing and increases the efficiency of file landing and disposal of cases. Any document receive from external source is scanned into the IC module and a new case is initiated by the concerned officer.

The file is electronically routed through the concerned departments through a computer based routing engine for inputs and an action till a decision is taken and the case is closed. The system provide more transparency as any remarks or noting done cant be deleted and one can track where the file is at a particular time. The new system also allows users to keep a diary of the files being sent and received and the status of the file can be viewed within minutes through system.-PR
