Protesters condemn desecrators

ISLAMABAD – Officials of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Army responsible for the desecration of the Holy Quran and Hadiths should be hanged to death publicly. This was demanded by the religious scholars from different seminaries of the twin cities during a protest rally held here on Monday.

Students and ulema from various madarris of the twin cities staged a demonstration to register their protest against the desecration of Holy Quran and Hadiths which had been dumped near a Sector G-7/2 Nullah along with the debris of Jamia Hafsa and Lal Masjid Compound.

The students and scholars protested near Melody Market as they were not allowed by the police to go ahead towards the mosque. They protest demonstration was held at the site where remains of the Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa Compound had been dumped.

Qari Saeed-ur-Rehman of Rawalpindi Sadr Jamia Islamia, while talking to the media persons, said Quran is a holy book respected by the Jews and Christians as well, but Muslims has desecrated it.

“The CDA and the Army personnel are responsible for this sacrilegious act and for that they should be hanged to death publicly. They have insulted the God because Quran is a book of God and by doing this they have invoked the wrath of God”.

They also demanded that they should be allowed to go towards the Lal Masjid and the siege of mosque should be ended soon.

The protesters were few in numbers and peacefully demonstrated their grievances. The students chanted slogans of “Naraay Takbeer Allah-ho-Akbar” but only near the dumping site and preferred to keep silent near the Melody Market.

The CDA that has been assigned to renovate the Lal Masjid had dumped the debris containing the manuscripts of Holy Quran and Hadiths near a Nullah. Other than that the debris contained bullet-ridden clothes, shoes of little children, hair, household items, bloodstained clothes of the students, Identity Cards, wills of the students and the letters of the loved ones of the students which they had kept with affection and care.

All that disturbed the residents of locality and they got emotional after seeing the remains of the students. They also showed their anger over the careless behaviour of the authorities regarding the Holy Quran.

CDA, in order not to catch the attention of the residents, had dumped the remains of the compound in the dark hours of night in Sector G/7-2 (near Sitara Market) and covered and levelled the area with mud. But on the complaints of the residents and media reporters shifted it to Sector H-7.
