Protest against Dr Niazi’s manhandling
MIANWALI, April 8: The manhandling of former federal minister Dr Sher Afgan Niazi by lawyers in Lahore shocked almost everyone here.
Dr Niazi hails from Mianwali and runs his private clinic here.
He belongs to the Wattakhel sub-tribe of the Niazis living in various parts of the district.
The Lahore incident sparked the sentiments of his tribesmen and sympathisers in Mianwali, Kundian, Musakhel and Wan Bhachran.
A few hours after the incident, a mob attacked the district courts and set on fire chambers of a number of lawyers.
Some of the protesters also tried to set the bar room and library in the district courts on fire, but police dispersed them.
