Proposals for interim relief under 7th Wage Board discussed

KARACHI- Office-bearers of newspaper employees unions and unions of journalists discussed suggestions relating to the interim relief for newspaper employees under the 7th Wage Board.

According to Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) which is hosting the two-day meeting of National Executive Committee of All Pakistan Newspaper Employees Confederation (APNEC) and Federal Executive Council of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), the plant unions demand early announcement of interim relief.

PFUJ President I H Rashed and APNEC Chairman Abdul Hameed Chapra chaired the meetings of FEC and NEC, respectively.

The office-bearers of plant unions and various unions of journalists from Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, Quetta discussed matters relating to the constitution of 7th Wage Board, its first meeting and interim relief. The FEC of PFUJ, in the light of decision by Peshawar’s Biennial Delegates Meeting (BDM), rejected the proposed press council.

The meeting will continue to finalise the proposals for the first meeting of 7th Wage Board. The decisions of the meeting will be announced the same day.
