Project to upgrade electronics dept

ISLAMABAD – The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has decided to upgrade the Department of Electronics at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) at a cost of Rs35 million.

The amount would be provided to the university during the current financial year, an official statement said. The main objectives of the scheme are to strengthen lab facilities of electronics department of the university for four- year BA electronics engineering programme, and enable faculty members and researchers to access modern lab facilities for learning and research activities.

The scheme would fully exploit the potentials of the faculty of the department that had been trained abroad and establish collaborative link with Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, for strengthening electronics department of LCWU, faculty exchange & technical support. It will also help develop curriculum for various electronics and engineering courses, the statement added.

Electronics and IT laboratories of the science departments of LCWU would receive modern laboratory equipment for training and research. As a result, about 300 students studying electronics in B.Sc (Hons) Electronics, B.S Physics, M.Sc Electronics, M.Sc Physics, BS Computer Science, MS Computer Science and Ph.D would be directly benefited.

In addition to this, the students of recently-introduced four-year BS electronics engineering programme, and researchers and students of planned programmes like M.Phil in electronics and three years diploma in associate electronic engineering would also be benefited from the scheme.
