Progress linked with computer literacy
KARACHI: Sindh IT Adviser Noman Saigol said that every possible effort was being made to promote computer literacy in the country. He was speaking at a programme held at the University of Karachi, says a statement issued here on Friday. The adviser spoke of the vital position of students in the realms of information technology.
Mr Saigol said that the government wanted to increase computer literacy in the country so as to make rapid progress. He pointed out that IT information centres had been established equipped with the latest computers.
He said that a number of programmes had been prepared so that the students could enhance their skills in the field of information technology.
Mr Saigol said that if we wanted to make headway then it was necessary to create awareness regarding computer education in the rural areas of the country as well.
Speaking on the occasion, the KU’s pro-vice-chancellor, Prof Akhlaq Ahmed, said that information technology was quite beneficial towards the acquisition of knowledge. He pointed out that a great deal of information could be obtained through the internet.

ILLEGAL SOFTWARE: The Business Software Alliance (BSA) has asked all the national and multi-national firms to install licensed software to avoid any legal action for violation of copyright law.
“The BSA has decided to crackdown on all the companies who can afford to purchase legal software, but they continue to violate copyright law by using pirated software,” said a BSA spokesman in a press statement issued here. –APP
