Probe ordered into robbery, rape case

TOBA TEK SINGH: A poor tenant of Chak 331 GB Salimpur, Ghulam Shabbir, and his family told the DPO on Monday when he visited their house that Chuttiana police were not registering a dacoity-cum-rape case occurred in their house two days ago.They apprised DPO Raja Munawar Husain that eight gunmen forced their entry into their house and remained there for more than three hours and raped three women. They said the dacoits also tortured children when they cried and took away cash and other valuables. DPO took serious notice of their complaint and suspended Chuttiana SHO Ahmad Ali Haral and Sub-Inspector Abdul Nabi for negligence and poor investigation of the case.

He directed DSP Aslam Shankar to monitor the investigation of the case.He announced to form a team of senior and expert police officers to probe the case and assured the family that the accused would soon be arrested. Meanwhile, the DPO held an open kutchery on Monday in Chak 320 GB and recorded statements of political rival groups of ruling party MPA Liaquat Ali Shaukat and former PPP MPA Mian Rafiq. A cross case had been registered against 84 people of both the groups on the charge of attacking each other, firing and damaging vehicles when Amjad Husain, elected nazim of UC No 48 in by-election, had taken out a procession to celebrate his win on Nov 22.

Mian Rafiq, Amjad Husain and former nazim Muhammad Khalid were also present on the occasion. It may be noted that the winner belonged to the group of Mian Rafiq while the defeated candidate, Muhammad Kaif, had the support of Liaquat Ali. Nine members of both the groups were arrested four days ago. CONCERN: Teachers of government schools in Kamalia tehsil have expressed concern that the post of deputy district education officer (female) was lying vacant for the last three months. They complained that they were facing a lot of hardships like payment of salaries and other official matters.
They said an officer was given temporary charge of the post but she also left the charge and now no one was working there. They demanded immediate appointment of a DDO.
