Probe into Shahzad’s murder
Sir: I thank Ms Mehmal Sarfraz for her hard-hitting article ‘Defaming Pakistan’ (Daily Times, July 11, 2011). My heart bleeds for Shahzad who was brutally killed for telling the truth; basically doing his job as a journalist of integrity that is rarely seen these days.
I pray for all journalists in the subcontinent, be they in Pakistan, India or Sri Lanka for standing up to the authorities and exposing the injustices against their citizens. It is probably too much to expect from the judicial commission probing Shahzad’s murder. However, I do hope that the guilty are severely punished for not only the state-sponsored, targeted murder but also for treason for defaming the proud Pakistani nation. Director General (DG) Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) General Pasha is not worth his salt if his organisation is out to kill innocent citizens of integrity.
