Probe against illegal Karachi nazims ordered
KARACHI: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has said that investigations on illegal immigrants who got elected as union council nazims during the last local government elections will be carried out.
“The National Alien Registration Authority (NARA) did not inform me about illegal immigrants working in the CDGK. It is a serious matter and investigations will begin Tuesday,” Kamal said, while talking to the media at his office. Kamal said that it was against the law to elect someone who had entered the country illegally.
“Some one who came into the country with fake documents has no legitimacy,” he stated.
He said that according to NARA’s list, one UC nazim of Keamari Town UC-5 was illegal and we are ordering an investigation right now. He said that they should be disallowed from participating in the elections.
