President, PM, slam firing at Kamran Shafi’s residence

ISLAMABAD: Unknown assailants fired at the residence of renowned journalist Kamran Shafi midnight Friday. The family of Kamran remained safe and a complaint was lodged with the POF Wah police station.

Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zradari and PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif have strongly condemned the incident. Kamran Shafi told APP that at midnight November 27 some unknown assailants assaulted his house and opened fire. The assailants took along with them the bullet cases to erase the evidence.

Kamran said after few hours of the incident, he received a call from a phone with the caller threatening him of dire consequences. The caller described the incident as just a trailer for what he was used to write and warned more would follow.

He said soon after the incident President Zardari and Nawaz Sharif called him and condemned the incident. After their calls, the police immediately registered an FIR and provided him security guards. Kamran Shafi said he always worked for the promotion of democracy. He demanded an inquiry into the incident.
