President announces Rs 1m for journalist’s family
LAHORE: President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday announced financial assistance of Rs 1 million for the family of the late senior journalist Hamid Javed.
Federal Information Minister Dr Firdaus Ashiq Awan visited the residence of the late Hamid Javed and conveyed condolences of President Zardari to the widow, Fauzia Hamid.
The minister also expressed grief over the death and paid rich tribute to Javed for his devoted services for the promotion of journalism.
Dr Firdaus assured the family of providing a job to the widow of the late journalist in a federal department. She said that the federal government would also cooperate with the family to pay outstanding dues of the deceased’s plot in the Journalists’ Colony. Earlier, the qul ceremony of Hamid Javed was held at his residence on Nisbat Road. A large number of people from all walks of life attended the ceremony.
