PPP flays ban on journalists’ entry into court

ISLAMABAD- The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has termed the military regime’s banning the entry of journalists into the accountability court in Attock as sheer “perversion of justice”.

The party urged upon the human rights bodies and lawyers to take notice of this “blatant violation of the civil and human rights of Senator Zardari” and force the military regime not to create obstructions in the course of a free and fair trial.

“The ban is aimed at hiding from the public the fact that there is a lack of evidence against the former senator, Asif Zardari,” a spokesman for the party said.

Soon after former senator Asif Ali Zardari was brought in an ambulance from an Islamabad hospital for the hearing of the assets case on March 9, the security personnel at Attock Fort forbade reporters from entering the accountability court.
