Power crisis and TV transmissions

APROPOS of Ehtisham Rafiq’s letter ‘Cutting down TV hours’ (May 3), I endorse the writer’s suggestion to restrict the air time of TV transmissions.

In the present scenario, where hundreds of thousands of people are facing miseries owing to shortage of electricity all over the country, it doesn’t seem logical to waste a considerable amount of wattages only to watch dramas, songs, etc.

Moreover, after midnight, most of the programmes are repeated transmissions with a low percentage of viewership.

I suggest authorities concerned and TV channels as well to shut down TV transmissions after midnight, at least till the good times when the electricity shortage problem is over.

This step may provide some relief to a large number of people who are compelled to pass sleepless nights with their children due to loadshedding.
