Police told to submit report on boy’s death

KARACHI, April 7: The Federal Ministry of Law, Justice and Human Rights has directed the police to submit a report regarding the death of 11-year-old Izrail Khan in a textile mill in the city.

In a letter of the ministry addressed to the Additional IG (Investigation) and Korangi TPO, the ministry sought a detailed report of the case along with FIR registration with reference to the death of Izrail Khan in Korangi Industrial Area on March 22.

The ministry has sought the report on the complaint made by Pasban, which says that the boy’s father, Asif Khan, was called by the mills management and informed him that his son had died owing to suffocation after a fire that erupted in the mills.

When the body was being given bath, marks of torture were revealed. The post-mortem report had not been issued yet and Korangi police were not ready to register the FIR, said the Pasban.

Pasban demanded that the labour department should conduct a probe to ascertain how an 11-year-old boy was inducted in the mills against the child labour laws.
