Poet Akhtar Zaman Khattak remembered

Peshawar: Eminent poet, critic and a senior civil servant of customs group, Akhtar Zaman Khattak was paid rich tribute at a reference arranged by Pashto Adabi Society, Islamabad at Pakistan Academy of Letters.

Speakers eulogised literary services of Khattak and his material support and efforts for promotion of cultural and literary activities.

Some of the speakers also lauded his commitment to the ideals of Marxism.

Khattak died due to heart failure on December 21, 2011 at a Private Hospital in Islamabad.

He was a renowned Pashto, Urdu and English poet who recently got his poetic works published.

He is survived by his widow, two daughters and a son.

In his 52 years of age, he had made an impact on many peoples’ lives, said the speakers.

Khattak was a heart winner and was equally loved, admired and respected by his relatives, friends and associates, they added.

On this occasion, the participants through a unanimously passed resolution demanded of the government to allot a plot and funds for building for Pashto literary and cultural activities.
