Phool group wins PTV referendum

KARACHI: A referendum was held among three union groups of the Pakistan Television Corporation in which All PTV employees and worker unions who contested under the Phool group with the flower as their symbol, swept with a heavy margin in all four provinces, Daily Times learnt Thursday.

The Phool group defeated its other two rival groups, the Central Employees Union with a torch as their symbol and the National Workers Union whose symbol was a flag.

The winning group was represented by its president, Jahangir Khan, and General Secretary Pervez Akhtar Bhatti, leading it to its first victory in three years.

PTV Managing Director Yusuf Baig Mirza congratulated the new office bearers and assured them of his support in resolving the problems of employees and workers. Other members of the union body elected from Karachi are Ameer Mukhtar as the central chairman, Adnan Naeem, Sikandar Rind and others.
