PFUJ calls it attack on press freedom
KARACHI, Jan 2: The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists has condemned armed attack on the offices of Sindhi daily Awami Awaz by activists of the Sindh National Front (SNF) and demanded action against those responsible.
“The year 2009 began with the attack on media and that too by activists of a political party, which is most unfortunate,” the PFUJ said in a statement.
It said that the SNF or any other political party or group had the right to protest if its statements were not published or were distorted, but to threaten a newspaper or journalists was an attack on freedom of the press and not acceptable.
