PESHAWAR: Noted American radio producer, journalist, author and lecturer, David Barsamian paid a visit to Peshawar Friday to meet lawyers and journalists.

He recorded some radio interviews with lawyers and political analysts for the Alternative Radio, which is a weekly, award-winning one-hour public affairs programme offered free in the US and in European and African countries.

Barsamian founded Alternative Radio in 1986 to provide information, analyses and views that are ignored or distorted in most media. During his ongoing visit to Pakistan, Barsamian gave the Dr Eqbal Ahmad Memorial lecture at Karachi. The lecture is held yearly in memory of the late Dr Eqbal, who was a known scholar and political activist. Barsamian also gave a talk in Islamabad. After his Peshawar visit Friday, he drove back to Islamabad to spend a couple of days with his family before heading for Lahore to give another lecture.

Barsamian lectures on US foreign policy, of which he is a great critic, the media, propaganda and corporate power in the US, Canada, Brazil, India and Europe. He has been very critical of the US foreign policy.
