Pemra withdraws review petition from IHC

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has withdrawn the review application from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that it had filed against the suspension of acting chairman Pemra Pervaiz Rathore and Pemra’s executive member Kamaluddin Tipu.Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi of the IHC on July 15 had suspended the appointment notification of Pervaiz Rathore and Kamaluddin Tipu.Legal counsel for Pemra Raja Azhar Mehmood, advocate, appeared before the court and withdrew the application while saying that the regulatory authority wants to challenge the July 15 orders before the apex Supreme Court.Meanwhile, Justice Qureshi adjourned till summer vacations the matter of Ch Rashid Ahmad, former chairman Pemra, seeking his reinstatement.
