Pemra signs MoU with Lebanon body
ISLAMABAD: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation between the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority and the Audio-Visual Council of Lebanon was signed in Beirut during a ceremony held at the CNA office on Wednesday.
According to a Pemra statement, the MoU aims at fostering friendly relations between the two regulatory bodies of Pakistan and Lebanon. Representing the Lebanese side, Abdul Hadi Mahfouz, president of the National Audiovisual Council of Lebanon, and Salman Athar, ambassador of Pakistan to Lebanon, inked the document on behalf of the Pemra. Mahfouz expressed optimism that signing of the MoU would forge strong and sustainable ties between Pakistan and Lebanon.
He highlighted cordial relations between the two countries and emphasized significant benefits that would arise from effective collaboration in the field of electronic media of both the countries.
Athar congratulated both sides for signing the MoU. He said Pakistan and Lebanon were two brotherly countries and shared common values.
He underscored mutual support for various regional and global issues. The ambassador elaborated the main objectives of the MoU, emphasizing the establishment of a mechanism to enhance communication, exchange experiences and share information in the field of electronic media.
Pemra Chairman Saleem Baig has expressed gratitude to Mahfouz for his initiative and bringing both the organizations on mutual cooperation.
He said this MoU would give impetus to the media industry and straighten cordial relations between the media entities of two countries:
The exchange of information mechanism as well as the experience between both the regulatory bodies would facilitate in understanding/adapting new trends, techniques and strategies in the media industry.
