Pakistan is set to launch Kisan TV, a dedicated television channel aimed at promoting climate-resilient agricultural practices, as announced by Romina Khurshid Alam, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, on July 7.

Alam emphasized that Kisan TV will play a pivotal role in educating farmers about sustainable farming techniques, enhancing their ability to cope with changing climate conditions. The channel will offer expert advice, feature successful case studies, and provide timely weather forecasts, enabling farmers to make informed decisions.

In a significant move to ensure broad accessibility, Alam stated that Kisan TV will leverage the services of Pakistan Television (PTV) to broadcast programs in six regional languages.  Kisan TV aims to broadcast in local languages and focus on practical, actionable information.

The channel is expected to feature a variety of programs, including documentaries, talk shows, and educational segments, all designed to empower the farming community with the latest agricultural innovations and best practices. Alam stressed the importance of this initiative in fostering a resilient agricultural sector, capable of sustaining the nation’s food supply despite environmental adversities.
