Pakistan to allow FBI to grill cybercrime suspects

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan would allow agents from the FBI to interrogate two cybercrime suspects each with a $50,000 bounty on their heads in the United States, officials said Monday.

Pakistani nationals Noor Aziz Uddin and Furhanul Arshad were arrested in Karachi on February 14, police said. The FBI’s website said the men were part of an international gang operating in several countries that stole over $50 million online in 2008 and 2012.

The FBI last week sought access to interrogate them in custody, an official at the Pakistani Interior Ministry told, seeking anonymity.

“We’ll allow FBI guys question them,” the official said, “That’s the usual practice.”

The gang operates from Pakistan, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Spain, Singapore, Italy and Malaysia, the FBI website said.

The US authorities had issued a federal arrest warrant for both Uddin and Arshad in 2012.
