PA demands ban on English film ‘The Message’

PESHAWAR (PPI): NWFP assembly Friday October 28 through a resolution demanded of the federal and provincial government to ban English film ‘ The Message’ in the country and forfeited all its copies as the film was against the Islamic jurisprudence (Sharia) which not allowed any one to perform like the companions (Sahaba-e-Kiram) of the holly prophet.

The resolution that was passed with majority said telecasting the Urdu version of the film was a blasphemous act of the Geo Television, as shaira did not allow for making a film on the life of holly prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and his companions (Sahaba-e-Kiram).

The resolution jointly moved by deputy speaker Ikramullah Shahid and Hakim Ibrahim Qasimi, further demanded of the federal and provincial governments to take action against those who performed the blasphemous act. It was said in the resolution that provincial government should take in possession all Urdu and English versions of the film ‘The Message” and impose ban on it in the province.

Earlier when the house met with speaker Bakht Jihan Khan, talking on point of order deputy speaker Ikramullah Shahid said a insult of the companion was made in the film that was telecasted on a private television channel in Pakistan. He demanded ban on the film and said the responsible should be punished according to the law.

Opposing him, lady MPA of ANP, Farah Aqil Shah said Jamia Al-Azhar had permitted the making of such film and hundred of people, she said, embraced Islam after watching the film. Nigaht Orakzai and Rifat Akbar Swati also supported ANP’s lady.

Education Minister said Muslims believes that prophets are innocents and all of their acts are role models for the whole Muslim Ummah. He said the companions are not innocents but they are symbols of Islam for the Muslims. He said one should get guidance from Islamic history and Ahadice. (Verses) not from the film.

The whole world, he said should raise their voice against the film that, he said made blaspheme of the companions of the holly prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

When the resolution moved in the house tow ladies MPA, Farah Aqil Shah and Dr Seemi Mahmmod Jan opposed it while all other leaders of the opposition parties went out of the assembly as they did not want either to oppose or favor the resolution.

Opposition of the ladies infuriated the veteran legislature, Maulana Mujahid of MMA as he strongly opposed to the lady when she wanted to speak on another issue. Mujahid said the lady opposed the resolution that was to condemn the film made on the life of companions and Holy Prophet.
