Over 150 mediamen to cover court verdict

KARACHI- Over 150 local and foreign journalists and television teams will cover the announcement of the verdict in the plane conspiracy case at Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC-1). “Fifty-three newsmen will witness the proceedings inside the court room while over 100 media personnel will wait outside the court for the verdict.

An official said the foreign media was giving much attention to the fair and transparent trial against deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other accused in the case. He said the government has facilitated them to cover the event independently. The limited seating arrangement inside the court room might not allow all the desiring journalists to witness the proceedings which are expected to last only for 10 to 15 minutes. Some of the media persons who had already reached Karachi belong to Financial Times, Voice of America, BBC, German Radio, Newsweek, AFP, Reuters, AP, DPA, Guardian, Times, New York Times, Daily Hindu, Daily Telegraph, Washington Post, Sidney Morning Herald, London Economist and others.

The teams of cables and satellite television included AP TV, Reuters TV, CNN, CBS, CNBS, BBC TV, Saudi TV, Voice of Kuwait TV, AI-Jazeera TV, Egypt TV, Oman TV, Dubai TV, German TV and others. The government has taken comprehensive and effective security measures to avoid any untoward incident in and around the Court premises and for the safety of the accused and all concerned.
