Newly-married girl killed by relatives

KARACHI: A girl was murdered and a man was shot dead while three persons lost their lives in separate accidents on Friday. A newly-married girl was murdered when her father, brothers and other relatives, who had reached from Mansehra (NWFP), stabbed her in her house in Future Colony, Landhi within Sharafi Goth police jurisdiction. Area police told The News that Nadia, 20-year-old daughter of Moeen Gul, a resident of Mansehra, had contracted court marriage with Amjad in the last week of October 2006, where after she started residing with her husband in Karachi.

The parents and other relatives of Nadia traced her in Karachi and went to her house to see her on the Eid, where they were treated as guests, police said. During the talks Nadia’s parents demanded money for their daughter that created conflicts between the heads of two families, police added. On October 2 (Thursday) Moeen Gul, the father of Nadia, along with others reached at her house, entered inside forcibly and stabbed Nadia, with the help of his sons and other relatives, police told The News.

Other relatives of Amjad, the husband of Nadia, included Humaiyoon, the father-in-law of Nadia, his two sons Imtiaz, and Niaz, and Tahir, when tried to intervene in order to save and rescue her, the attackers stabbed them also. The injured persons were rushed to the Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where Nadia, breathed her last after sometime and other injured persons included Humaiyoon, his two sons Imtiaz, and Niaz, and another relative Tahir, were admitted in the hospital.

Police told The News that deceased Nadia had fallen in love with Amjad, and left her house twice in the past. But on the basis of Jirga system Nadia, was returned to her parents and the Jirga had imposed a fine Rs0.2million that Amjad had paid to them, police added. Police acting promptly arrested four accused persons included Moeen Gul, the father of Nadia, his two sons, Imran, and Farooq, and his brother Ali Gul, besides registering a case against them on complaint by Amjad Khan.
