Nationalist parties welcome commissionerate system

By Asghar Azad

KARACHI: The nationalist parties of Sindh have welcomed restoration of commissionerate system in Sindh.

Talking to Daily Times, Chairman Sindh United Party Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah said that commissionerate system was the basic right of the people of Sindh as they had demanded it from the day first when a dictator had announced to merge all five districts of Karachi division into one district and form the City District Government Karachi (CDGK).

He said Hyderabad district was also divided into three new districts in a bid to gain wasted interests, which were achieved.

Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party chief Dr Qadir Magsi said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government was not sincere to the people of Sindh.

Replying to a query, Magsi said the period of three years had been wasted by the PPP regime as they had formed the Sindh government along with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) because they needed peace in Karachi.

He said the PPP had already understood that if the MQM was not given share in the government, especially in Sindh, they could not run it easily.

Chairman Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz Bashir Khan Qureshi said that the PPP was hanged between their own motives and their allies.

MQM was an ally of the Sindh government but was not interested to resolve the real issues faced by the people of Sindh.

He said CDGK only worked for selected localities of the city during its twice tenures as it provided development works and all other civic facilities to the localities, excluding areas of Sindhi and Balochis, especially Malir, Lyari, rural areas and a major portion of Keamari Town in the city.

To a query, he said Hyderabad district was divided into three new districts only on ethnic basis so as to promote a party and deprive the people of Sindh of their rights.
