Mysterious killing of a girl

ON Aug 28 while working at a relief cell office established under a consortium of NGOs and the district government, Matiari, we came to learn that the body of a girl had been found near the office itself.

We tried to get the footage of the body but could not do so because it had already decomposed. It belonged to an 18 or 19-year-old and must have been lying there for the last three or four days.

The body had been badly mutilated. The sanitary worker who wrapped her body for funeral said that her face had been smashed with a stone and her arm had been amputated.

Some clothes, including a shirt, and cooking pots were also found lying nearby. A name was inscribed on the pots.

A police squad had the body carried in an Eidhi ambulance to an undisclosed location. However, not a single officer deemed it necessary to investigate the matter. The SHO should have immediately inquire into the matter.

According to a survey, these families arrived as IDPs from Jacobabad, Shikarpur and Khandkot. Most of them belong to Baloch tribes like the Magsi, Jamali and Khosa.
