MoU to set up women business centre
PESHAWAR: The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) and Social Welfare and Women Development Department (SW&WDD) on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under which a Women Business Development Centre (WBDC) would be established in Peshawar.
A ceremony was held in this regard where NWFP Minister for Social Welfare and Women Development, Sitara Ayaz was the chief guest. The ceremony was also attended by President Industrialist Association Peshawar and Chairman Pakistan Sporting and Hunting Arms Development Company, Nauman Wazir, Provincial Chief SMEDA NWFP, Javed Khattak, prominent female entrepreneurs of NWFP and representatives from the concerned organisations.
Provincial Minister, Sitara Ayaz appreciated the role of SMEDA in promoting women entrepreneurship in the province. She also discussed the importance and need for development activities for females of NWFP.
She apprised the participants about different initiatives being taken by her department for the economic uplift of NWFP’s women.
Nauman Wazir assured the need for developmental initiatives for female entrepreneurs of NWFP. He lauded the role of SMEDA and other organisations working for the development of female entrepreneurs of the province.
Secretary SW&WDD also shared his views regarding the importance of women entrepreneurship. He briefed the participants about the joint efforts of SMEDA and SW&WDD for successful implementation of the upcoming project of WBDC in Peshawar.
