Ministry of Science hires 40 IT experts from abroad

ISLAMABAD- The Ministry of Science and Technology has hired about 40 IT experts from abroad under its programme to overcome the problem of IT faculty shortage in the country.

Initially, each expert has been hired for a period of six months.

The selection was made after vetting 223 CVs received over a period of nine months. The programme was widely advertised in international print media by the Ministry.

The government is making all-out effort to provide high quality IT education at affordable price, and the key in this respect is highly qualified faculty.

The faculty hired from abroad is limited to very outstanding research-oriented scholars.

The placements of the guest faculty have been made in educational institutions throughout Pakistan by matching the requirements of the host institution and the expertise of the guest.

The willingness of the host and the guest to work together was also ensured.

Whereas the commitments from the guest faculty members have been obtained to render services in Pakistan, the actual visits would mostly start in the second half of 2002 and in 2003.
