Sindh Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon affirmed the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) “unwavering support” to press freedom during a ceremony at the Hyderabad Press Club organized by the Hyderabad Union of Journalists. During the event, Memon distributed health cards to journalists.

Memon reiterated the PPP’s historical prioritization of media welfare, recalling former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s fight for press freedom during periods of dictatorship. He asserted that the PPP and its leadership had consistently upheld press freedom.

“I assure the journalists of Hyderabad that their grants will be augmented,” Memon stated, announcing his intention to request the chief minister to increase grants for journalists. He further pledged that the Sindh government would cover medical treatment expenses for journalists, even if it required traveling to the United States.

Memon acknowledged journalists’ vital role in society and underscored the party’s responsibility to provide them with essential support.
