Media taking on Indian propaganda, says minister

QUETTA- The Federal Minister for Information and Media Development, Nisar Memon refuted the impression that Pakistani electronic media has failed to counter Indian propaganda and said despite having limited resources it is effectively countering Indian media.

Talking to mediamen here, he said it was wrong that Punjab should be make responsible for every problem of the smaller provinces and added that common man of Punjab and small provinces were facing the same problems, which could only be resolve through making the country economically strong and stable.

He said the government was adopting all possible measures for the economic development of the country. He said President Pervez Musharraf was himself keen for the development of backward provinces specially Balochistan.

Answering a question he said the decision of extending support to the international coalition against terrorism was a wise step and in the larger interest of the country, which dispelled impression that Pakistan was a terrorist state. He said most people supported this decision.
